The Teaching and Learning team at Coursera is a group of learning design researchers and experts. Our team works closely with instructors and instructional design teams from top universities and industry partners around the globe, providing best practices, training, consulting, and support in content development and creating transformational learning experiences. We aim to understand the factors that make online courses successful for learners, optimize for a range of metrics -- including enrollment, progression, completion, and learning outcomes -- and ultimately distill these into actionable insights to guide partners in their course design and production. We continuously drive and improve online pedagogy through research, feedback, and on-platform experimentation.
As a T&L Specialist focused on our Business-to-Consumer (B2C) market, you are a pedagogy and instructional design expert working closely with our university and industry partners to create new and/or transform existing content into engaging and effective online learning experiences. As their pedagogical consultant, you’ll convey to partners the value and blueprint for using Coursera’s pedagogy principles to develop content that takes advantage of known models for successful content on our platform. You’ll assess their instructional design capacity, lead workshops to map content to learning objectives, perform quality checks on content during the development process, and perform post-launch quality improvement reviews. Often times this content will be technical in nature, falling under our most popular topic domains: computer science, data science, business, and healthcare.
Outside of individual learning experiences, you will be on the cutting edge of online education research and practice, identifying and developing new online pedagogy practices and sharing them with the extended Coursera community. Together, we will help create universal access to high-quality higher education, and make a profound difference to lives and societies around the world.

Your responsibilities:

Develop new online teaching best practices and design strategies and materials for partners to implement these through their content creation process  Collaborate with instructors and content creation teams to map out and develop high-quality learning experiences--identifying, reviewing, and providing actionable feedback on all course components; designing solutions for high stakes assessments and scaled synchronous activities; and helping to inform capacity for internal partner teams in the processLead online teaching workshops with authors and content creation teams on how to deliver great learning experiencesReview learner success metrics and assess course quality through learner ratings, reviews, and behavior, developing actionable recommendations to aid partners in iterating on contentProvide actionable course improvement plans in the form of clear summaries and categorized recommendationsPresent on work in the form of internal presentations and partner- and public-facing articlesAs assigned, assist in other key areas of T&L services work (partner training, partner consultations, on-platform experiments and data analysis)Conduct experimental research and analyze findings to continuously inform instructional design and e-learning best practices 

Your skills:

3+ years of relevant professional experience in teaching, online education, instructional design, or learning science; experience designing and developing content for industry education a plusExperience working with, and presenting to, external partners or clientsContent expertise (work or education) in computer science, analytics/data, engineering, or other technical fields requiredGood analytical skills; the ability to synthesize information from various sources and conduct experimental researchCreative problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal and operational skillsStrong bias for action and ability to initiate, coordinate and manage numerous projects and schedules simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic, and cross-functional environmentAbility to speak as an accomplished thought-leader in the online teaching space to authors/instructors and university and industry leaders
