Job Description

Founded in 2010, WeWork is a global platform for work with a mission to create a world where people work to make a life, not just a living. Our pioneering model offers the benefits of a collaborative culture, the flexibility to scale workspace up and down as needed and the power of a worldwide community, all for a lower cost. With 500+ locations in over 111 cities and 29 countries, our 527,000 memberships represent global enterprises across multiple industries, including 38% of the Global Fortune 500.

WeWork is seeking a passionate, motivated, and experienced manager to help lead the Member Communications team, based in NYC, to handle our global member engagement program to our 580,000+ member base. The role will oversee the development and execution of key member communications strategies and execute campaigns around company initiatives. This person will not only be an expert in identifying content that will interest and engage our members, but also know how to put together products that deepen the engagement with our members across all channels and platforms.

The role requires setting priorities and key narratives for the member communications team; collaborating and strategizing with other teams, internally and externally; and ensuring an ongoing and on-brand content calendar. You will expertly balance the demands and interests of multiple projects, partners, and influencers, and maintain stellar relationships.

We are looking for someone with a deep and thorough understanding of email marketing as well as a strong communicator with superb relationship management skills. This role is for you if...

  • You are entrepreneurial and a diligent self-starter. Your high level of comfort and calmness with navigating personalities and team dynamics in a fast-moving and fluid environment is integral to this cross-functional role.

  •  You’re an expert at using email to maximize customer/constituent engagement with compelling messaging and content, and are ready to bring your top-flight communication skills to new channels and platforms.

  • You’re obsessed with data and analytics, but know that qualitative information can be just as valuable as the cold, hard numbers.

  • And, you’re a natural project manager who is inquisitive, inventive, and always thinking about how to improve and optimize processes.

This person will bring an entrepreneurial approach to the role as a networker and self-starter, and a high level of experience and comfort with managing and navigating personalities and team dynamics.

The role demands creativity, energy, dynamism, and a positive attitude combined with diligence and vigilance. The successful candidate must have excellent writing, communication, and relationship management skills; sound judgment; and a passion for working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Design and lead all aspects of the implementation of a member communications strategy across the company’s corporate and regional channels, ensuring it aligns with our business goals, voice, and brand, and maximizes engagement.

  • Oversee global campaigns and communications for product and services marketing launches, large-scale strategic events, surveys, impact initiatives, new product lines, building service notifications (crisis communications, holiday notices, and operational updates).

  • Develop product narratives and oversee campaigns delivered across email, app, and digital screens in WeWork buildings.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to understand how their goals are best represented and amplified by our member-facing channels, and maintain brand consistency.

  • Maintain ongoing relationships with global teams.

  • Collaborate on new ideas, and seek out new directions and venues to improve the member experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience managing multiple projects, ideally within a complex, corporate environment operating on a global scale.

  • A people person skilled at building and nurturing relationships, and balancing many priorities—and always doing so with a good attitude.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS specific to email, experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Excel a plus.

  • Knowledge of CAN-SPAM, the GDPR, et al. and email compliance best practices.

  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills.

  • Analytical, creative, and organized with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication skills, with strong time and project management abilities.

  • Ability to quickly and effectively analyze data points to drive effective experimentation and growth as well as confidently tell stories through data.

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to evolving business objectives and shifting priorities.

  • Sound news judgment and a keen instinct about what’s on-brand.
