VICE News Tonight assignment editors have a clear understanding of VICE's story focus and our style of storytelling. You successfully demonstrate expertise in the news and documentary field, and an ability to flourish in a team environment at our head quarters in Brooklyn, NY.
The Role x You
This is not a field position -- the assignment editor's primary job is to coordinate daily news coverage both editorially and logistically. The editor will also make calls to confirm breaking news stories. You will also assign and coordinate daily assignments at the direction of senior management.
You should understand the fundamentals of news gathering and must be a clear writer comfortable managing information and dispersing it to the broader news organization. The assignment editors will be called on to generate stories ideas that can be acted on immediately as well as in the future. The assignment editor can expect to work longer days and weekends.
