Role x You As producer for Vice News Tonight and other Vice News platforms, you are always ready to get out there and make stuff. You are adept in the field and in the edit bay and work well with a team to get it all done. In the short term… you will pitch stories that you find fascinating, tell us why, and then go out into the world and make them. You will see your stories through from the original idea, to development, to field shoots, and finally, the scripting, editing, and finishing process. After 6 months in this role… You’ll know exactly the kind of pitch that will get greenlit and you’re making pieces you’re passionate about every month. You’ll delve into specialty fields and maybe even pitch a full special or show. And after a year.. You will have a lot of pieces under your belt, constantly pushing the limit and thinking differently, and training new members of the staff on how to do it the right way. Role x You The Senior Broadcast Producer for Vice News Tonight will run the daily execution of the show. You need a vision for storytelling, a love for daily news, and the ability to hold it all together when things adapt and change on a tight deadline. You’ll be in the control room for the show, in primetime, so extensive experience there is a must. You should exude a calm, in-control vibe and back it up with the ability to act deftly in changing situations. In the short term… you will help develop and launch an updated and expanded Vice News Tonight, working with the Executive Producer and editorial team to build the framework and content - from short franchises to lengthy pieces, and everything in between. You will be a part of the senior management staff, working with producers, APs, and writers to guide them on the day-to-day execution of the show.  After 6 months in this role… You’ll take ownership of the role and have a better idea of what’s working and what’s not, and make adjustments as needed. You’ll be confident in a clean daily execution. And after a year.. You’ll be regularly backing up the EP, and taking over special projects within the framework of the show. You will manage the daily news portions of the show, overseeing story selection, editorial, and writing, managing a team of producers, APs and PAs. And you’ll work with the Senior Broadcast Producer to approve all scripts. You are an impressive tease writer who knows how to keep an audience tuning in without using cliches. You will work with the production crew to implement systems to get the show on the air seamlessly.  After 6 months in this role… You’ll own the editorial direction of all daily news in the show, and will be concepting and delivering new treatments that break the mold for how we deliver daily news. You’ll be regularly pitching new segments and franchises to set the show apart. And after a year.. You will be regularly filling in for the Senior Broadcast Producer, and building out unique off-shoots and side projects tied into the Vice News universe.
